This (Last) Week in Fourth Grade!

Field Trip Tomorrow!

We will be walking to the Hudson Public Library tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.  Afterwards, we will come back to school and enjoy water games on the field!  Please make sure that your child wears sneakers for the walk.  Afterwards, they may change into shoes that can get wet (flip flops, sandals, old sneakers etc.)  Students should also bring clothes to change into at the end of the day, a water bottle, towel sunscreen and their bagged lunch.

Time Capsules Due

Time capsules are due in school tomorrow.  You can still continue to send items in up to the ceremony on the last day of school.

Region Parade

We have finished learning about all of the regions of the United States.  Students showed off their knowledge with a parade on Friday.  Enjoy the pictures below.

This Week in Fourth Grade!

Movie Day!!

Tomorrow we will have a Movie Day.  Students decided to "pool" their LL Bucks together so that each student could “buy” a movie day.  It was great to see how our community came together to share their hard earned money so that each student had enough money for the Movie Day!!   The kids were encouraged to bring in a movie to school on Monday if they would like and we will vote on a movie to watch in each classroom.

Field Day!

We had a blast at Field Day this year!  Our community voted to split into a boy group and a girl group and made sure to meet up at various events to battle it out.  The volleyball was especially fun with some very determined students volleying the ball back and forth for quite a while!  Enjoy the pictures!

Time Capsules

We hope that students continue to fill their time capsules with memories of their elementary years.  We have been busy writing letters to each other and will also write letters to our high school graduate selves this week.

Time capsules are due to school on Monday, June, 18th!

Our closing ceremony is on the last day of school at 9:00.  If you would like to dismiss your child after the ceremony, please send in the paperwork that was sent home on Friday.

Field Trip

Our walking field trip to the Hudson Public Library and to Wood Park is on Monday, June 18th.  Please make sure that if your child needs a lunch from the cafeteria that day that you let us know.  Students will need to wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring sunscreen and water.  Let us know if you have any questions!

We also have our field trip to Quinn Middle School on Wednesday this week.  We will be visiting Quinn for a short time in the morning.  During this time we will be able to talk to teachers and students, get a quick tour of the building, and hear about all of the great things that happen at the middle school.

This Week in Fourth Grade

Time Capsules

Students are reporting that they all have their time capsule boxes which is great!  We have been giving daily reminders to students about putting items into their time capsules.  We will ask for students to bring them in the last week of school in preparation for our Time Capsule Closing Ceremony which is on June 21st at 9:00.

Field Trip

Our walking field trip to the Hudson Public Library and Wood Park is on June 18th.  Most students have returned their permission slip!  If your child needs a library card, please let us know so that we can send home a form.  If your child will need a school lunch that day, they can pre-order one with the cafeteria by June 13th.  Please let us know!

The Region Research Continues....

This week students researched the Midwest, West and Pacific Northwest.  Using this research they will now create a "Parade Float" out of a cardboard box in preparation for a region parade.  In the pictures below you can see our creative students beginning their floats.  I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Decimal Olympics Have Arrived At Farley!

Last week we started the Farley Decimal Olympics!  Each student was placed on a Regional Team that are based on the regions they have learned about in social studies.

Our Olympic Games started with two timed events, the Crab Walk and the Backward Run.  Teams competed against each other.  Teams were awarded 0.1 of a point if they showed the most team spirit!  The day after the events students became judges and determined the order of times from fastest to slowest.  Other decimal points were given out depending on the place that each student came in.  Every student was able to help their team earn points!

Tomorrow we will take a look at the "leaderboard."  Be sure to ask your athlete what place their team is in so far!

This week students will be competing in more Olympic events such as the Shopping Spree and Decimal Bowling.

Whale/Dolphin Research!

Last week students worked hard to meet the expectations for completing their Chapter 1 of the Whales and Dolphin research.  Be on the lookout for your child's Chapter 1 rubric being sent home this week.  Students who did not meet the expectations will be highly encouraged to go back to edit and revise their Chapter 1 so that they can meet those expectations.  You will need to sign a notice stating that you have seen your child's rubric.  Revisions and signed notices will be due by Wednesday this week!
