Time Capsules
Students are reporting that they all have their time capsule boxes which is great! We have been giving daily reminders to students about putting items into their time capsules. We will ask for students to bring them in the last week of school in preparation for our Time Capsule Closing Ceremony which is on June 21st at 9:00.
Field Trip
Our walking field trip to the Hudson Public Library and Wood Park is on June 18th. Most students have returned their permission slip! If your child needs a library card, please let us know so that we can send home a form. If your child will need a school lunch that day, they can pre-order one with the cafeteria by June 13th. Please let us know!
The Region Research Continues....
This week students researched the Midwest, West and Pacific Northwest. Using this research they will now create a "Parade Float" out of a cardboard box in preparation for a region parade. In the pictures below you can see our creative students beginning their floats. I can't wait to see what they come up with!
Decimal Olympics Have Arrived At Farley!
Last week we started the Farley Decimal Olympics! Each student was placed on a Regional Team that are based on the regions they have learned about in social studies.
Our Olympic Games started with two timed events, the Crab Walk and the Backward Run. Teams competed against each other. Teams were awarded 0.1 of a point if they showed the most team spirit! The day after the events students became judges and determined the order of times from fastest to slowest. Other decimal points were given out depending on the place that each student came in. Every student was able to help their team earn points!
Tomorrow we will take a look at the "leaderboard." Be sure to ask your athlete what place their team is in so far!
This week students will be competing in more Olympic events such as the Shopping Spree and Decimal Bowling.
Whale/Dolphin Research!
Last week students worked hard to meet the expectations for completing their Chapter 1 of the Whales and Dolphin research. Be on the lookout for your child's Chapter 1 rubric being sent home this week. Students who did not meet the expectations will be highly encouraged to go back to edit and revise their Chapter 1 so that they can meet those expectations. You will need to sign a notice stating that you have seen your child's rubric. Revisions and signed notices will be due by Wednesday this week!
